U.S. understands bullying, intimidation better than any other country: Chinese FM

BEIJING,June7(Xinhua)--AChineseforeignministryspokespersononWednesdaysaidtheUnitedStatesunderstandsbullyingandintimidationbetterthananyothercountryintheworld,andthereisnoroomforChinatoconcedeorbackdownwhenitcomestosafeguardingitssovereigntyandterritorialintegrity.

SpokespersonWangWenbinmadetheremarksatadailypressbriefinginresponsetoaccusationsfromrelevantU.S.officialsabouttherecentpracticesofChina"smilitaryvesselsintheTaiwanStrait.

Wangsaidthatithasbeenreportedthatlastyearalone,largeU.S.reconnaissanceaircraftconductedover800close-inflightstospyonChina.Lastyear,theU.S.alsosentaircraftcarrierstrikegroupstotheSouthChinaSeaandnearbyareasmultipletimes.

"Brandishingitsmilitaryprowess,theU.S.iswillfullyflexingitsmusclesandinfringinguponthesovereigntyofothercountries.Thisisbullyingandintimidationatitsbest.Thisisthesourceofmaritimeandairsecurityrisksanddangerstoregionalpeaceandstability,"Wangsaid.

HesaidthatfacingU.S.militaryprovocations,Chinahasrespondedinaccordancewithlawsandregulations.Theseactionsarecompletelyjustifiedandlawful,andhavenothingtodowith"bullying."

WhenitcomestosafeguardingChina"ssovereigntyandterritorialintegrity,thereisnoroomforChinatoconcedeorbackdown,Wangsaid.Thisisabsolutelynotacaseof"bullying"or"intimidation."ThisisaboutChinastandingupforitsprinciplesanditsredline,headded.■
